See yourself the way God sees you

See yourself the way God sees you

For whoever touches you, touches the apple of his eye.

Zechariah 2:8b

It’s undeniably true that a lot of us who are  Christian ladies do not have an accurate view of ourselves – from God’s perspective. We have little to or no understanding of how God sees us or how to live out this truth. As a result, we spend a lot of time trying so hard to please Him. I was at this point some years ago even as a woman who had been a Christian for so long. I always felt like I never measured up to God’s standard.  This made me go from feeling condemned and discouraged at some point; to self-righteous and prideful, depending on the level of my commitment to His service.

Meanwhile, this continued until I discovered that I was pleasing God and didn’t need to wear myself out with too many commitments. This was when I started developing a healthy and accurate assessment of myself.

Often, our perception of ourselves is based on how others see us, instead of how God does. Perhaps you may not know this, but God’s Word is what helps us see ourselves the way God sees us. The Bible is like a mirror, the only difference is that when you look in it, you see yourself how God sees you; and not how you or others see you.

In case you’ve lived as a Christian woman for so long without knowing how God sees you, start looking into the Scripture and it will begin to build the right image in your mind’s eye.

Prayer

Abba Father, I ask for the grace to begin to see myself through your eyes.

In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
