Be content with how God made you

Be content with how God made you

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Psalm 139:14

Comparison is a dangerous trap that many have fallen into. Even as believers, we can’t help comparing ourselves to friends, neighbours, and even strangers sometimes. The sad truth is that this unhealthy habit only leads to discontentment and feelings of self-doubt. It’s God’s design for us all to be completely different from one another. Even though we’re different, we’re all still reflections of His wonderful image and likeness. A firm grasp of this fact will bring you to a place where you’ll accept yourself and be content with exactly how He made you.

Meanwhile, arriving at a place of contentment with self goes beyond accepting yourself as you are; rather, it’s getting to accept the fact that God created you uniquely and purposefully. This is the best version of you that sprang from His creative ability. Note this, God’s greatest concern is for you to live purposefully, not your aesthetic beauty.

Prayer

Dear Gracious God, thank you for such a gentle reminder of how you created me as a reflection of your perfect image. I ask that you help me to live with the consciousness of this truth so that I’ll be the best version of myself at all times.

In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
